To the Editor: Company Doesn’t Need the Help

Ellsworth American

Dear Editor:

Has your paper become the The Ellsworth American Aquafarms?

I can’t believe you gave such a prominent story to American Aquafarms about its so-called “community conversations” without ever offering another point of view.

As you well know, the opposition to the American Aquafarms project is wide and deep throughout Hancock County and beyond. Had your reporter bothered to seek out any project opponents for a comment, she would have quickly realized that people see these contrived videos for what they are — just another sad attempt by this foreign investor company to hide from real conversations with the people who will be most affected by their industrial salmon farm in Frenchman Bay.

Cheesy infomercials like the ones American Aquafarms is giving us might help sell beauty creams and non-stick pans on late-night TV, but when you are trying to sell us a project that will destroy our waters and threaten the many jobs associated with fishing and tourism, you better show up in person to make your case, something this company so far has been unwilling to do.

Please stop doing their work for them.
